Kristina is a Career Coach and Counselor specializing in working with mid-career professionals interested in creative, social service, education, entrepreneurial, and sustainability fields. Expert in counseling people in career and life transition.
- She received her Master’s degree in psychology from Antioch University, Seattle, and has studied career and self-development for over 20 years.
- She brings a wealth of tools and resources to help clients defeat self-sabotaging thoughts and behaviors and break through blocks..
- She has also studied and practiced writing, dance, and educational/social change theater throughout her life and offers right-brained processes to discover new insights and possibilities.
Kristina has worked for more than 20 years as an employment/career counselor with community colleges, non-profit organizations, and her own business in Washington, Northern and Central California, and Oregon.
She has provided academic and career counseling for diverse student populations at Santa Rosa Junior College and Contra Costa College in Northern California, as well as through the Private Industry Council, a Workforce Development program.
She started her business in California and currently works as a Career Counselor in her hometown of Eugene, Oregon, seeing clients individually on Zoom or in-person at her office near the 5th Street Market in Eugene. She also facilitates Career Development Workshops.
*Update: After two decades working in the field of Career Counseling, I decided to apply for my Certified Career Counselor (CCC) credential through the National Career Development Association (NCDA) - and I'm happy to report my application was approved! I've always felt well-qualified in the services I offer my clients, but I wanted to grow professionally and add this certification to my master's degree. I was required to submit my graduate transcripts, complete a rigorous "Facilitating Career Development" (FCD) course online, and respond to four challenging career counseling scenarios. In the FCD course, I learned more in-depth knowledge about career counseling theory, refreshed my counseling skills, and picked up some new tools and strategies to share with clients. I will soon be listed on the NCDA site, as well, so I can reach more folks who need my services.
Thanks for celebrating with me!
Kristina Bennett Cheney, MA, CCC
